I think this is one of the best columns we've ever published! (I proofed it when it first came in and it's stayed with me ever since.)

So, what you're saying is if I wish to continue being the "Mac-Daddy" among the ladies I should keep in practice? Twisted Evil

Good column, Selena! Very Happy

I read your column and Im thinking 'You poor kid'.

Er, it wasn't -by any chance- a 40-ish guy in an old red nissan pickup truck yelling at you was it? If so let me say from the heart "I apologize".

Yep, make sure you get a little practice everyday. Wink

and Cameron, nah, it wasn't you, so don't sweat it.

You know what's weird is that just yesterday the same sort of thing happened. Thankfully I wasn't driving. I was riding with my husband and we passed a cyclist on one of the neighborhood streets. The guy called out to us, "hey what do you think you're doing?" Hubby's response was, "um, driving." The cyclist yelled back something else. My husband just said, "Well, you have a nice day" as we drove away.

The whole rest of the morning, I kept thinking, "I have to pray for that guy, that God will remove whatever pain is causing him to bark at strangers for no apparent reason."

I'm glad you guys liked the column. I hope it wasn't too personal.

You are not alone, Selena, my sister.

I have an 8 year, 1 month old car. It's got 37,000 miles. And a good chunk of them got added the years my mother was desperately ill and I had to drive her to the doc weekly or twice-a-week, and then go terminal and I drove across the length of Miami daily to take care of her at my sister's house.

I'll spend two weeks at a time without driving. When I do, it's down the block to the gas station, to the grocery store, or , on longer trips, to the lab or doc or to buy some clothes at a nearby mall.

I had to pray for courage when I drove to a screenwriting workshop one county over a few months ago.

It's true. If you get out of the habit, fear can set in. And you lose your edge.

I really try to write a bit every day for that reason. I know until I commit to writing more--at least a few hours--of fiction a day, I won't progress the way I want to...and should.

God didn't give us gifts to waste.

So, you know I'm commisserating with ya.

Mir
