And on the Seventh Day...

Marsheila Rockwell

God rested on the seventh day, but that doesn't mean He stopped creating...

Sunlight prisms

Off a single bead of sweat

That drips from God’s tired brow

As on the seventh day

He relaxes in a hammock

Strung between the stars

The droplet streaks the sky

A liquid rainbow ribbon

As it falls from Heaven

To Eden’s fertile soil far below

And from the clay thus formed

Spring forth unicorns, chimeras,

Fish-eyed mermaids draped with pearls

And all manner of Divine whimsy

Never meant for this Creation
