Tools for Authors and Artists

The Sword Review is proud to support the efforts of authors and artists by providing some tools and features geared toward the emerging professional. To access the tool menu, you must first register for the forums. Once registered and logged in, a link to Author - Artist Tools will appear. Click that link to get started.

Personal Profile Page

The first thing you will see is a form to complete a personal profile. This page can serve as a personal profile page that you can post anywhere on the Internet or use as a signature for emails. (It supports HTML, by the way.) Here is an example...

After you put in your basics, (DON'T WORRY ABOUT YOUR PUBLICATION HISTORY - See below.) and update it, more links will appear giving you more options.

"Blog"

Join the ever-growing number of authors who keep a web-log! When you complete your profile, you are automatically set up to create a blog. Just return to the forums and click on the "My Blog" link. You have a choice of several templates, and each template can be customized to your taste.
(Here is one example: Keys of Bill Snodgrass.)

Submission Tracking

Keep up with all your manuscripts, from "work in progress" to "published" with this easy to use tool. There are a number of ways you can use this feature and there is a help window that discusses them. However, all tracked manuscripts with a status of "Accepted" or "Published" are AUTOMATICALLY included on your personal profile page! (As seen on the example page: Bill Snodgrass.)

The Author - Artist Tools also includes the mechanism to submit to The Sword Review. It is an easy process that allows us to quickly respond to your submissions.

Support for Critique Groups

While their are many good, large critique groups, some prefer to be a part of a smaller groups with people with whom they have developed a relationship over time. The Author - Artist Tools also includes support for this. After completing your profile, you will have access to instructions for setting up your own (or joining) forums with tools to upload files for the group's review.

More to come!

We are ever thinking of things to help support our community of authors and artists. If you have ideas, send them via email to the Webmaster. Tell us what you would like to see!
